2.12.b calckernel¶
Purpose¶
calckernel is a tool designed to automate the kernel compilation process and create Ramdisk.
Differences from genkernel¶
calckernel adds several possibilities to Ramdisk functionality:
- bootup in
aufsandunionfssupported for the LiveCD- LiveCD loaded to RAM, with dynamic allocation thanks to
tmpfs - CD unmounted once the image is loaded
- KMS (Kernel Mode Setting) used
- using
udevfor the modules to start automatically - automatic video card detection
- setting up the Calculate kernel for a specific video driver to be used
