What is the proper way to install Nvidia latest ver. 390 on 10 series card 1070. I tried it upon setup up of install and clicked nvidia but after restart it gave me black screen. Please help
please provide more info: paste logs
for example, ssh on PC with black screen and:
cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | wgetpaste
lsmod -v | grep nvidia | wgetpaste
dmesg | wgetpaste

I cannot post log, Its black screen cannot get in the desktop. upon install at the end i choose nvidia after restart black screen

U can post log, connect to you PC via ssh. If it impossible, rollback to working configuration, but take mind needed log renamed in /var/log/Xorg.1.log
Common procedure switch to nvidia drivers:
# cl-update - before any actions
# emerge x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers - please control needed version installed. read errors and warnings
# cl-setup-video --video nvidia
# reboot

switch back 2 worked config (nouveau?)
paste /var/log/Xorg.X.log (with nvidia)
run eix nvidia-drivers and say wich version installed
provide video chip version (pspci -v | grep VGA)
